About

An avid fan of John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith and James Horner from a young age, Paul Hutchings dove headfirst into the world of film music with writing theme music for his high school’s TV news program. While in high school he also organized recording sessions for his submissions to the International Film Music Competition in Zurich and attended the NYU/ASCAP Film music workshop.

While at NYU, Paul had the privilege of studying with renowned film composer Chris Hajian, and conducted the NYU Community Orchestra in a world premiere of Four Irish Dances, which received a standing ovation from the audience. He has since gone on to work with filmmakers from NYU, Penn State, University of Michigan, and Temple on a wide variety of projects. In 2019, Paul founded Temple Film Orchestra – a group dedicated to fostering collaboration between filmmakers, composers, and musicians.

An active trumpet player, Paul performs regularly with various groups in the greater Philadelphia area, including the Philadelphia Wind Symphony, Cherry Lane Band, and PYO Bravo Brass. Paul actively freelances for weddings, churches, and in the recording studio: he can be heard on C3’s debut album The Unanswered Question and the main titles for Temple Tonight.
